1
Depart Nairobi and drive north-west on the Naivasha road. Stop at the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment viewpoint — a 900-metre drop revealing the vast geological wonder beneath. Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park. Afternoon game drive: the flamingo-pink lake shores, white rhino sanctuary areas and the acacia and euphorbia forest belt. Sundowner at Baboon Cliff with sweeping views.

A full day exploring the park. Morning drive to the southern lake shore where flamingos gather in their thousands, turning the water pink — a truly surreal spectacle. Look for white rhinos grazing nearby and black rhinos in the forested areas. Lions are famously "tree-climbing" here in Nakuru — scan the fever tree canopy. Afternoon drive through the colobus monkey forest and along the Rift Valley escarpment wall.

Final morning drive before breakfast. Option: stop at Lake Naivasha for a short hippo boat safari — the freshwater Rift Valley lake is home to massive hippo pods and spectacular birdlife. Then continue to Nairobi, arriving by late afternoon.
