Introduction.

This program is designed for both amateur and professional photographers. Our aim is to help the traveler get iconic shots of wildlife and landscapes in these exciting diverse natural ecosystems. We travel in small groups to give plenty of room for your camera equipment and ease of taking pictures. Most of the shooting will be done from dawn to dusk to maximize every possible photo opportunity. Your expert Photographic guide will accompany you throughout the trip to help with lessons, especially for the starters.

Day 1-Arrive Nairobi.

Welcome to Kenya. Soin Africa Safaris Expert Photographic Guide will meet you on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International airport and transfer to Tamarind Tree Hotel for overnight on (Bed & Breakfast).

Day 2- Nairobi-Amboseli National Park

This morning we depart by road through the scenic Athi plains and into the bush country of Amboseli nestled in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. We arrive in time for lunch and check-in at Ol Tukai Lodge. The lodge offers a panoramic landscape sky and wildlife with the massive majesty of snowcapped Kilimanjaro in the distance. The lodge is camouflaged in a forest of fever trees and palms. Dinner and overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge on (Full Board).

Day 3- Amboseli National Park.

Amboseli is a big game country, elephants, antelope, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo and giraffe. Two game drives are planned today; both will introduce you to the intense beauty and drama that fills each day. Predators stalk the herds grazing animals recreating the age-old drama of life and death under the African sun, in a setting so lushly beautiful for photography. Dinner and overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge on (Full Board).

Day 4-Amboseli-Aberdares National Park.

Early departure from Amboseli after breakfast, drive north with a brief stop for lunch at Blue Post Hotel in Thika. We will then proceed north, driving through lush tea, coffee and pineapple plantation to the Aberdare Country Club for check-in and lunch then transfer to the Ark Forest Lodge for overnight. Situated in the foothills of the Aberdare Mountain Range, the Ark has three level balconies that overlook a salt lick and a waterhole, where you will enjoy the very finest high altitude game viewing and close photo opportunities. Dinner and overnight at the Ark Forest Lodge on (Full Board)

Day 5-Aberdares-Samburu/Shaba Game Reserves.

After breakfast at the Ark, we transfer to the Aberdare Country Club and join our driver. We drive north through the quaint town of Isiolo. Here in Samburu/Shaba National Reserve, you will see wildlife not found in the southern hemisphere, Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra, the Reticulated giraffe and the Gerenuk. Check-in and lunch at Sarova Shaba lodge. An afternoon game drive has been planned. We spend the night along the banks of the beautiful Uaso-Nyiro River. Dinner and overnight at the luxurious Sarova Shaba Lodge on (Full Board).

Day 6- Samburu/Shaba Reserves.

Further explorations of this fascinating reserve awaits you, a full day game drive is planned today as we travel and take pictures of the world’s most spectacular and exciting terrain. This was also the home, for instance of Elsa the Lioness of “Born free fame”

Day 7- Samburu/Shaba-Ol Pejeta Ranch.

Our destination today is the exotic Sweetwater’s Tented Camp in the secluded heart of Ol Pejeta\Ranch and Rhino reserve. Here, these magnificent beasts are given sanctuary from those who would take their lives to sell their horns. Here too Jane Godall Institute operates a remarkable Chimpanzee sanctuary where we meet primates face to face. Our tents at Sweetwater’s will remind us of this bygone era. The tents overlook one of the busiest waterholes, with elephants, giraffes and a plethora of plain game visiting. Dinner and overnight at Sweet Waters Tented Camp on (Full Board).

Day 8- Olpejeta/Lake Nakuru National Park.

Lake Nakuru is our destination today, with its jewel of a National Park, well known for hundreds of thousands of flamingoes; a leopard sighting is likely here. This is a photographer’s paradise. Lake Nakuru National Park is also a rhino’s sanctuary both black and white. It is also a refuge for the endangered Rothschild giraffe. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge on (Full Board).

Day 9- Lake Nakuru-Masai Mara National Reserve.

After breakfast and check-out, we drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The richness of the park’s wildlife will captivate us for the next three days, while our luxurious tented camp overlooking the Talek River at the very confluence of the Mara’s four prime game viewing- area, will be equally exciting. Dinner and overnight at Mara Intrepids Camp on (Full Board).

Day 10/11- Maasai Mara National Reserve.

The next two days we explore the Mara extensively. A country of rolling grasslands, dense thickets and groves of acacia woodland. The Mara is home to incredible variety of wildlife. Deep forest grows along its tributaries, where many hippos and crocodiles bask lazily in the sunlight. Here we find the largest population of lions in Africa. This is also home of the Maasai people, the Maasai guarding his cattle is and enduring and proud figure in the Mara. Dinner and overnight at Mara Intrepids Camp on (Full Board).

Day 12/13- Mara-Serengeti National Park.

After early breakfast and check-out, we drive to Serengeti in Tanzania. We will have lunch at the border after clearing customs and immigration. Game drive Enroute to Serengeti Sopa Lodge, arriving late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Sopa Lodge on (Full Board). We spend the two nights at the lodge with full day game drives. There are millions or larger number of mammals, elephants, cheetahs, gazelles, wildebeest, zebras, etc. that inhabit this great grassland, shrubs and riverine forests. The lodge is styled after a traditional Maasai village blending in with the sun-bleached colours of Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Sopa lodge on (Full Board).

Day 14- Serengeti-Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

After a hearty breakfast, we are off to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for two nights. Enroute we will visit Olduvai Gorge where the Leakey family uncovered the fossil Homo-habilis (handyman) the first tool user who lived 1.75 m years ago, irrevocably changing the way scientists view human evolution. We continue to our lodge for a sumptuous lunch. Afternoon at leisure to take pictures of the caldera and luminous sunsets from your guest suites. The lodge is an architectural marvel built on the rim of the undisturbed eastern side of the crater. Diner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge on (Full Board).

Day 15- Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

This morning we descend into the crater and spend the whole day with picnic lunch tracking animals. This magnificent natural Amphitheatre is said to have the largest concentration of animals in the whole of Africa, including high density of hyenas and lions. Large flocks of flamingoes inhabit the alkaline lake. Because of the short grass, game is easily spotted and photography is excellent! The ever-changing mood and tenor of the great amphitheater will hold your attention every second of the day. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge on (Full Board).

Day 16- Ngorongoro-Lake Manyara National Park.

After breakfast and check-out, we drive leisurely to Lake Manyara Serena Lodge for lunch, located on a spectacular setting at the edge of the escarpment, overlooking the Great Rift Valley. From the lodge you can have a clear view of stunning Manyara Soda Lake with its masses of pink flamingoes. After lunch, a game drive is planned to visit this lovely forested gem of a game park. In this lush landscape, there are large herds of elephants, troop of baboons, vervet’s and blue monkeys as well as leopards, big cats and plain game. On our game run, we also seek the famous tree-climbing lions, a sight you will definitely never forget. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge on (Full Board).

Day 17- Lake Manyara-Arusha Town.

Our final day! After breakfast and check-out of Lake Manyara Serena lodge, we drive to Arusha town. A little tour of the town and shopping before transferring to Kilimanjaro international airport for your onward flights home. Tired but exalted on Day 17th of this mighty photographic safari!!
