ITINERARY 1 – Sirimon up – down Chogoria

Day 1:

Arrival at the airport, Meet and transfer to the hotel of your own choice. Dinner, bed & breakfast on your own arrangements and cost.

Day 2:

Depart form Nairobi at 8.00 am for Nanyuki (3 hrs drive) arriving in good time for lunch, thereafter drive for Sirimon Park Gate together with the mountain crew. Begin your three hours hike to Old Moses Camp (3300 m/ 11,000 ft).Dinner and overnight at the hut.

Day 3:

After breakfast hike to Shipton’s Camp (4200 m/ 14,000 ft). This ascent takes about 5 – 7 hrs which depends directly on on one’s level of physical fitness. Lunch enroute, dinner and overnight at the hut.

Day 4:

You will wake up to a pre-down attempt of point Lenana, altitude- 4985m/ 16,355ft. After your photography and viewing session of jagged peaks, descend to  Minto’s Hut on the Chogoria trail for a full breakfast. Go down to Meru Mt. Kenya Bandas arriving in the evening. Hot shower, dinner and overnight at the bandas. (3029m/ 10,000ft)

Day 5:

Breakfast,then walk for two hours through the giant bamboo for 10 km, then meet 4×4 ready to transfer you to Chogoria village for lunch, thereafter depart for Nairobi arriving in the evening. Transfer to your hotel. Dinner, bed & breakfast at your own cost.

What to bring on the mountain;

  • Warm sleeping bag
  • Good comfortable walking boots
  • Warm hat or balaclava

  • Walking trousers, shirts and pullover

  • Sun hat
  • Scarf
  • Raining shoes (for evening)
